The Rockpile - James Baldwin: Thursday, Nov 9

 We read the Rockpile by James Baldwin and talked about it as a class. I felt sorry for John as he was not shown the same love as roy was by Gabriel. I could relate to John as I don't tell on my siblings when they sneak out or do something they're not supposed to. The fear that their mother must of felt in that moment is overwhelming. Overall the text was great and I stayed engaged for the most part.

 Today we worked on another assignment on Newsela. Today's passage was about how select fast-food industries are violating labor laws. I had no idea that this was a big problem let alone a problem at all. I learned something new and answering the questions was pretty easy. Someone I knew, died today. He and I didn't really get along, but I would never wish this upon anyone. It hasn't been an easy year, so many of my classmates are dying. I will never forget the impact each of them have had on my life.  Rest In Peace, Guillermo.

poem presentation- Monday Nov 6

 Today we presented our poems we wrote. Mine took me a little longer than the hour we were given in class, I had worked on it all day when it was assigned. I think it came out alright but I was so tired. I was messing up my speech because I couldn't think straight. I like writing poetry, so I love when we are assigned things to do with poetry.
