My Ethnicity

 Today we were asked to provide our ethnicity on an assignment. I had to text my parents to ensure where our history goes back to. My older brother recently started a project to find out more about our roots. He found out that we originally had family in Nigeria on my dad's side and Britain on my mom's. We then read a poem called "The Negro Speaks of Rivers" by Langston Hughes. This poem was easy to analyze for the most part but was also powerful. I enjoyed the conversations we had around this topic in class. For the rest of school, I will be focusing on Math and Physics because I am behind

 Today we worked on another assignment on Newsela. Today's passage was about how select fast-food industries are violating labor laws. I had no idea that this was a big problem let alone a problem at all. I learned something new and answering the questions was pretty easy. Someone I knew, died today. He and I didn't really get along, but I would never wish this upon anyone. It hasn't been an easy year, so many of my classmates are dying. 9/11

 Today we presented our one-pagers in class. It wasn't a block day so not many people got to present. I didn't get to even though I think mine was pretty good. The rest of school was pretty easy and focused on 9/11 history, especially in my U.S. History class. I honestly hope that I don't have to present, but either way I'm sure I will get a good grade.
